I trained as a nurse in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in the early 1970s and qualified as a midwife in Pembury, Kent in 1978. I continued to work at my nursing studies and now work part time as a Nurse Practitioner in a doctor’s surgery. Over time I realised how important it is to treat people holistically and not just concentrate on the symptoms of an illness or disease. This led me to study a selection of complimentary therapies including Reiki, Aromatherapy, Swedish and Indian head massage, and some aspects of beauty therapy.
I have personal experience of breast cancer treatment and lymphodema and this led me to complete the Vodder method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD. This is a specialised massage for lymphoedema. I update this training every 2 years and arrange and facilitate updates for other Vodder practitioners in conjunction with Professor Hildegard Wittlinger from the Vodder School in Austria.
I am registered with the Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. I am also a registered MLD practitioner with MLD UK, and the Dr Vodder Schools in both Austria and North America.
